10 local students receive scholarships from Idaho Falls Power

The following is a news release from the city of Idaho Falls.
IDAHO FALLS Idaho Falls Power (IFP) has selected 10 local high school students to receive $500 college scholarships for their efforts to develop and demonstrate strong leadership skills.
Each year, Idaho Falls Power sponsors local high school students to attend the annual Idaho Community-Owned Utilities Association (ICUA) Youth Rally event in Caldwell, Idaho. At this rally students representing Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Nevada, Oregon, Washington and Alaska have the opportunity to earn scholarship money and gain valuable leadership skills. Students participate in a variety of activities to build leadership, teamwork, perseverance, and more. Attendees also have the chance to learn more about government, drug and alcohol awareness, and the electric/energy industry.

UPDATE: Power coming back on after outage in Idaho Falls

Idaho Falls Power posted the following statement:
“UPDATE: (7 p.m.) Crews have been able to isolate the two open line fuses. A majority of customers should have power restored. Crews are working to restore the 70 remaining customer’s service as soon as possible. Thanks again for your patience.”

IDAHO FALLS – Part of Idaho Falls is experiencing a power outage.
The outage occurred around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Idaho Falls Power says the outage is affecting people near Community Park.
“We have crews (en route) and will update with more information when available,” the utility posted on its Facebook page. “Thanks for your patience.”
