Classroom Idaho spring session broadcasts home learning lessons | News

BOISE Access to the internet can be a challenge in Idaho, especially in the state’s rural areas. That’s why, with online learning continuing in many districts until the end of the current school year, Idaho Public Television is continuing to bring the classroom into viewers’ homes with free broadcasts of Classroom Idaho: Learn@Home on our CREATE Channel. Last spring when schools across the state shut down and moved to distance learning, IdahoPTV knew there were thousands of parents and students without internet access and/or devices with which to access high-quality instruction. In response to that need, we launched Classroom Idaho, a free broadcast service that allows students to receive over-the-air instruction each weekday from certified Idaho teachers. Each lesson is aligned to Idaho content standards.

The Pandemic Is Over As Idaho House Republicans Vote To Lift Gathering Restrictions

1:08 Last week as lawmakers were considering this proposal, Gov. Brad Little and the Idaho State Board of Education loosened caps on how many people could attend school sporting events. Schools can now allow enough fans to fill up to 40% of their gym’s capacity if masks are worn or physical distancing can be maintained. At minimum, each athlete can invite up to four guests. Before the change, each athlete was limited to having two guests in the stands, while some, like on the dance team, were excluded from inviting anyone. Republican Rep. Brent Crane (R-Nampa), who’s sponsoring the resolution, noted the change in his closing statements.
