The National Guard paint facility in Sioux City, Iowa revealed a remarkable heritage paint scheme which they completed this week on an Idaho Air National Guard (ANG) A-10 Thunderbolt II. The 124th Fighter Wing of the Idaho ANG conceived this new livery for their A-10 in celebration of the unit’s 75
th anniversary and their lineage to the WWII-era 405th Fighter Group, which flew Republic P-47 Thunderbolts.
9 Boise, Idaho – Maj. Christopher Lavelle and his younger sister, Master Sgt. Kerry Lavelle, are known on Gowen Field as “the Lavelles.” The pair has served on base as full time technicians for several years and as traditional Guardsmen in the Idaho National Guard for nearly 20 years.
“It’s been fun serving in the military at the same time as my family,” said Christopher. “It seemed at one point that everyone on base knew who we were. They would see Kerry when she used to work in security forces at the front gate and they would see me for computer problems at the communications office.”
What Was That Flying Over Boise On Wednesday
Wednesday afternoon Mateo and I jumped in one of the KISS-FM vehicles and drove south on Broadway, as we moved away from downtown Boise and got closer to the airport we both looked at each other and said What is that?! . All we could see was dark colored aircraft making swift maneuvers in the sky above us. The scary thing was that they were flying low and aggressively. It looked like a scene from the Call of Duty video game. It was definitely a bit alarming until we did some some digging and found out that six AV-8B Harrier aircraft from the Marine Corps Air Station in Cherry Point, North Carolina are here on a training mission and will be in our air space until April 28.
