The Indian rupee surged by 29 paise to hit an eight-week high of 72.83 against the US dollar on Friday, tracking positive domestic equities and upbeat Asian peers against the American currency. At the interbank forex market, the local unit opened at 72.98 against the greenback and witnessed an intra-day high of 72.83 and a low of 73.09. It finally ended with a gain of 29 paise at 72.83 to the US dollar the level not seen since March 26. On a weekly basis, the rupee has appreciated by 46 paise against the American dollar. The dollar index, which gauges the greenback s strength against a basket of six currencies, fell 0.10 per cent to 89.71 on Friday.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – The Pakistani rupee gained 80 paisa against the United States dollar in the open market and traded around Rs 154.
The price of 1 USD to PKR buying was Rs154.30 and selling of US Dollar was Rs154.80 on Wednesday.
On the other hand, Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves were up by $308 million and stood around $23.520 billion.
SBP reserves were up by $384 million to $16.427 billion while other banks reserves dropped $76 million to $7.092 billion. Tags:
BHOPAL: Union minister for tourism Prahalad Patel was caught on camera threatening to slap a man who was pleading for oxygen for his mother who is admitted to a government hospital in Damoh. Patel, the local MP, was visiting the hospital on Thursday when patients’ relatives surrounded him and complained of shortage of oxygen and injections.
In the commotion that followed, one of the men used an expletive while complaining that hospital staff were making them run from pillar to post. In a video that’s going viral, minister Patel then says: “Aisa bolega to do khaega.” In anguish, the man replies, “Haan khaenge, humari mataram to khane ke liye hee padi hain” (Yes, I will. My mother is lying there).” The minister tells him to mind his language and asks, “Is somebody denying you oxygen?” “Yes,” the man says, breaking down, “They gave oxygen only for five minutes, just five minutes.”
