Formula E expands global broadcast coverage

| 26 February 2021 On the eve of its first season as an FIA World Championship, Formula E has announced that its seventh edition will be broadcast live in over 150 countries, across six continents. The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship is a single-seater motorsport series that uses only electric cars and season 7 will begin on 26 and 27 February with a double header in the dark of Diriyah in Saudi Arabia and Formula E has agreed new or extended media partnerships with over 40 broadcasters, notably Seven.One Entertainment Group (SAT.1) in Germany, CBS in the US, Discovery (Eurosport) across Europe, Sky Italia in Italy, Cultura and Globo in Brazil and SuperSport in Africa. The new partnerships will result in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship being broadcast in more than 30 languages around the world, with over 60 hours of live, and 40 hours of non-live programming per season.

Beyond Rights constructs new deals for engineering titles

| 15 February 2021 In keeping with a 2021 that has begun with a raft of deals, producer/distributor Beyond Rights has closed a number of deals for some of its popular, long-running engineering series, as well as for newer acquisitions in the genre, recently introduced to the market. At the head of the slate is series two of Massive Engineering Mistakes (12 x 60’), which examines epic fails and builder blunders from construction projects around the globe and which has now been licensed to Canada’s Blue Ant Media – which also acquired series one at the same time – as well as RTHK in Hong Kong, Discovery in Italy and Canal Plus in France and French speaking territories. Producers BriteSpark Films, part of the Argonon group, recently announced that series three and four, co-produced with Beyond Rights, have been commissioned by Science Channel in the US.

Extreme E revs up broadcast partner programme with ProSieben, Al Kamel

| 18 January 2021 As it gears up for the all-electric car racing series, Extreme E has revealed that it has gained further support from the broadcast industry inking a carriage deal with ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE and a technology supply contract with Al Kamel Systems. Extreme E aims to highlight the climate emergency that is affecting the whole world. By visiting these five destinations in 2021 – Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Greenland, Brazil and Patagonia – which have all been affected by the climate crisis, and the racing series will attempt to show the devastation caused by environmental issues, and encourage change, whilst leaving behind a long-lasting positive impact through its legacy programmes. The five-event calendar starts in March 2021 in Saudi Arabia, before moving to Senegal in May, Greenland in August, Brazil in October and Patagonia in December.
