Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards (D) has granted clemency to McKinley Phipps Jr., marking another big step forward in the No Limit rapper’s decades-long quest for freedom.
Phipps, or “Mac,” as his fans know him, has served 21 years of a 30-year sentence in the shooting death of a teenage fan at a concert in Slidell, Louisiana, in 2000.
