The Marshall Liberal Government committed to opening a series of safety hubs across regional South Australia. These hubs join those already open in Port Augusta, Murray Bridge, Gawler and Berri. The hubs are a place where women can access information, referrals and support from staff and specially trained volunteers and may provide assistance with housing and legal matters, family intervention, counselling, drug and alcohol services, or offer drop in spaces with phone and computer access.

Residents may be required to fork out up to $140 every time they want hard rubbish taken away as part of new local council proposals.  The Mount Barker and Adelaide Hills councils in South Australia are both looking to propose a pay-per-use system where residents will pay for hard rubbish collection.  It comes as the councils look for ways to reduce growing costs without having to continually raise their rates.  Two councils have proposed a pay-per-use hard rubbish collection system that could cost residents up to $140 per collection (stock image) The Mount Barker Council has proposed a pay-per-use system where residents will need to pay $140 for a hard rubbish collection.
