Two more regional safety hubs to improve safety for women and children
Women and their children experiencing domestic, family and sexual violence in Mount Barker and Mount Gambier will have better access to help and information with the opening of two new safety hubs in these regions.
The Marshall Liberal Government committed to opening a series of safety hubs across regional South Australia. These hubs join those already open in Port Augusta, Murray Bridge, Gawler and Berri.
The hubs are a place where women can access information, referrals and support from staff and specially trained volunteers and may provide assistance with housing and legal matters, family intervention, counselling, drug and alcohol services, or offer drop in spaces with phone and computer access.
Residents may be required to fork out up to $140 every time they want hard rubbish taken away as part of new local council proposals.
The Mount Barker and Adelaide Hills councils in South Australia are both looking to propose a pay-per-use system where residents will pay for hard rubbish collection.
It comes as the councils look for ways to reduce growing costs without having to continually raise their rates.

The major brokerage has expanded in the South Australian property market, with the opening of a new state office and store on Pirie Street, Adelaide.
The opening of the new office and store has followed the creation of 31 new full-time mortgage broking positions, and the recruitment of another eight staff in administration and sales roles in South Australia this financial year, according to Aussie.
