DNP Student Honored for Exceptional Humanity at Mass Vaccination Site

Congratulations to Leadership DNP student Ron Yolo, who recently received the Population Health Mission Award in recognition of his exceptional humanity, dedication, and kindness at a mass vaccination clinic treating vulnerable and underserved communities in Los Angeles county, California.
Over the course of five days at the LA Galaxy’s Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California, 20,248 first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were administered. Counted among Yolo’s patients was Lula Davis-Homes, mayor of Carson.
“It was gratifying to see how elated individuals were when they finally received the COVID-19 vaccine,” Yolo said. “Remarks such as how the patient can finally see their loved ones, hug their grandparents, and play with their grandchildren were amazing to hear from the vaccine recipients.”

According to The Cum Laude Society, each Chapter may elect students who are enrolled in a college preparatory curriculum and “who have had an honor record up to the time of election and stand in the first fifth of their class…Each Chapter shall determine the method in which an honor record and class standing shall be ascertained…Chapters shall be free to elect members who have demonstrated academic excellence in accordance with the philosophy and policies governing their individual schools.”
Pingry students must meet each of the following criteria to be considered for election: maintain at least an A- grade point average, achieve honor roll status throughout their years in the Upper School, be in good academic standing, and carry a full college preparatory course load.

To provide strategic leadership and oversight of Student Health Services (SHS) at Mount Saint Mary s University (MSMU). In addition, provide efficient and effective delivery of primary health care and clinical services to students in collaboration with and under the supervision of the SHS Medical Director. Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of ambulatory and primary health services for the college student population, budgeting, health clinic operations, health regulations and legal issues, basic laboratory procedures and testing as well as vaccination standards and program operation. Knowledge of community health, health education, public health principles, pharmaceuticals and formulary maintenance, current health issues (especially those pertaining to adolescent and adult health), and response to infectious disease outbreak. If the weather is inclement then the ceremony will be moved inside to the high school auditorium.
Due to COVID-19 last year and the shutdown of all schools in Pennsylvania on March 13, 2020, the Wall of Fame ceremony was not held. This year the Wall of Fame Committee decided to combine the 2020 and 2021 ceremonies to honor all three inductees.

2020 Inductees: John J. Coll Jr. and Thomas E. Mitchell (Posthumously)
Mr. John J. Coll Jr. was born and raised in Phoenixville PA. A 1971 graduate of St. Pius X High School. He continued his undergraduate education at Mount Saint Maryâs University graduating in 1975 with a BA in Political Science. He then graduated from George Mason University with a Juris Doctor Degree in 1980. He continued on to Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law and graduated in 1987 with a Masters of Laws in Taxation.
