Gertrude D Trudy Conway

Dr. Gertrude D. “Trudy” Conway, professor emerita, passed away Friday, July 30, 2021, at home surrounded by her loved ones after an extended illness. She was 70. Trudy began her distinguished career teaching philosophy at Mount Saint Mary’s University in 1979, when she returned to the United States with her husband, Abdolreza (“Huschang”) Banan, from Iran, where she and Dr. Banan taught at Shiraz University. In addition to the decades she spent in the classroom, mentoring students and faculty alike, she found time to write several books, multiple scholarly articles, serve as associate dean of the college, begin the University Honors Program, and initiate a study abroad program that would become the model for the Mount’s foreign studies program today.

DNP Student Honored for Exceptional Humanity at Mass Vaccination Site April 16, 2021 Congratulations to Leadership DNP student Ron Yolo, who recently received the Population Health Mission Award in recognition of his exceptional humanity, dedication, and kindness at a mass vaccination clinic treating vulnerable and underserved communities in Los Angeles county, California.  Over the course of five days at the LA Galaxy’s Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California, 20,248 first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were administered. Counted among Yolo’s patients was Lula Davis-Homes, mayor of Carson. “It was gratifying to see how elated individuals were when they finally received the COVID-19 vaccine,” Yolo said. “Remarks such as how the patient can finally see their loved ones, hug their grandparents, and play with their grandchildren were amazing to hear from the vaccine recipients.”

Phoenixville School District announces Wall of Fame honorees

If the weather is inclement then the ceremony will be moved inside to the high school auditorium. Due to COVID-19 last year and the shutdown of all schools in Pennsylvania on March 13, 2020, the Wall of Fame ceremony was not held. This year the Wall of Fame Committee decided to combine the 2020 and 2021 ceremonies to honor all three inductees. - Advertisement - 2020 Inductees: John J. Coll Jr. and Thomas E. Mitchell (Posthumously) Mr. John J. Coll Jr. was born and raised in Phoenixville PA. A 1971 graduate of St. Pius X High School. He continued his undergraduate education at Mount Saint Mary’s University graduating in 1975 with a BA in Political Science. He then graduated from George Mason University with a Juris Doctor Degree in 1980. He continued on to Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law and graduated in 1987 with a Masters of Laws in Taxation.
