No Boil Order for Morgan Park, Beverly After Another Pumping Station Outage: Officials

(Holger Schue / Pixabay) Residents of Beverly, Morgan Park and Mount Greenwood do not have to boil their water after an outage Tuesday morning cut power to the Roseland Pumping Station twice within an hour, officials said. Thanks to our sponsors: The Roseland Pumping Station experienced “two power issues that affected the pumping pressure for drinking water” between 9:15 a.m. and 10:10 a.m., according to the Department of Water Management. A boil order was not necessary on Tuesday “because of the temporary nature of the issue,” according to Chicago water officials.

Turney was a graduate of Chicago Ag, where he attended with his twin brother, Jimmy, and got along with all the high school groups.

New Lenox St Laurence Student Named Illinois State Scholar

(Shutterstock) NEW LENOX, IL New Lenox resident and St. Laurence student James Gurgone has been recognized as an Illinois State Scholar by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission, according to a release from the school. Gurgone is one of 13 seniors to be named as a State Scholar at St. Laurence High School. The school said it has one of the highest percentages of Illinois State Scholars among Catholic high schools in the southland Chicago area. According to the school, Illinois State Scholars represent approximately the top 10 percent of high school seniors from 726 high schools across the state. Students given this recognition possess strong academic potential and are chosen based on a combination of exemplary ACT or SAT test scores and sixth semester class rank.
