Loving mother, nonnie, aunt and best friend February 13, 2021 Elvira Vera Paula Maria Davino WATERBURY – Elvira (Vera) Paula Maria (Fiorillo) Davino, loving mother, nonnie, aunt and best friend, left this world peacefully on Feb. 11, 2021, at the age of 85, just two months shy of her 86th birthday. She was born to Paul and Aurora (Criscuolo) Fiorillo on April 15, 1935, in Waterbury. After graduating from Wilby High School, Vera went on to pursue certification in hairdressing and cosmetology at the W.F. Kaynor Technical School in Waterbury. Shortly thereafter Vera met her husband of 50 years, the late Joseph J. Davino Sr., and together they had five children, Maryann Davino (Lanzieri), Joseph J. Davino Jr. and his wife Annamarie (Genova), Carolynn M. Davino-Ramaya, M.D., and her husband Krishnan Ramaya, Michael, and Barbara Hale, RN, and her husband Patrick.

Member of the Aramark/Baylor Facility Services grounds team passes due to COVID-19 complications Baylor University and last updated 2021-02-12 16:21:27-05 Baylor University is mourning the loss of a member of the Aramark/Baylor Facility Services grounds team. 57-year-old Jamie Soto died Sunday due to complications from COVID-19. He worked for Aramark/Baylor Facility Services for six years. Jaime Soto was a beloved employee who took care of Aramark Grounds for six years, said Mandie Storer, grounds manager for Aramark/Baylor Facility Services. He was passionate about Baylor and his role in keeping it looking sharp. Jaime never missed a day, and would always find ways to strengthen his team. In his spare time he loved listening to music and dancing with his family. We hope that his family finds peace through this very difficult time.

February 10, 2021 Robert J. Kane WATERTOWN – Former state Senator and current State Auditor Robert J. Kane, 53, passed away unexpectedly on Feb. 5, 2021, at his home. He was the proud father of Aidan and Deana Kane of Middlebury. Rob was born April 30, 1967, a son of the late James J. and Deana (LoRusso) Kane Sr. Rob was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School, Central Connecticut State University with a bachelors in business administration and management, and earned his MBA from the University of New Haven. Rob was a successful entrepreneur who opened one of the first cellphone stores, KarTele Cellular Communications, in 1994. He gained his MBA while owning that store. As a longtime resident of Watertown, he was first elected to represent the 32nd Senatorial District in a special election on Jan. 15, 2008. He held that position until becoming state auditor in 2017.
