Both Microsoft and Sony have had sales of their latest consoles curtailed by ongoing component shortages. However, of the two, it looks as though Sony is continuing where it left off with the last generation by selling double the number of next-gen consoles compared to its rival.
As VGC reports, the latest sales analysis carried out by Ampere Analysis reveals that during Q1 this year, Microsoft sold 1.31 million Xbox Series X and Series S consoles. Sony on the other hand, more than doubled that with 2.83 million PS5 consoles sold. If accurate, it will be disappointing for Microsoft, which has placed a much bigger focus on subscription gaming for this generation, as well as having a performance advantage (on paper at least).
