What is Pod Point?
Pod Point is a UK-based provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, offering charging points to facilitate the switch away from combustion engine use, whether for households, communities or businesses.
The company was started in 2009 by mechanical engineer Erik Fairbairn, who began his career at Ford and had previously founded and sold supercar rental club Ecurie25. Initially, Fairbairn invested much of his own capital in Pod Point and acquired angel funding in the early stages. But in 2014 the company raised £1.5 million in equity crowdfundin
InstaVolt activates record number of rapid chargers
InstaVolt switched on a record 62 rapid chargers in the UK in March, as it aims to deliver 5,000 chargers by 2024/25.
It has so far delivered more than 500 charge points, with the latest additions being installed across the UK, including Warwickshire (15), Greater London (six), and Oxfordshire (four).
InstaVolt’s chief executive officer Adrian Keen said: “The expansion of our public charging network across the UK will help drivers make the switch to EVs by reducing range anxiety.
“We’re incredibly proud to be helping the country move along the roadmap towards the green vehicle revolution, with March resulting in a record number of installations of rapid chargers.

The supermarket giant, in partnership with Volkswagen and Pod Point, has been installing free charging points at 600 of its supermarkets across the UK.
And it has now been revealed that the partnership has provided its 500,000th free top-up.
According to the figures, this is equal to three million kWh of electricity - enough to power an electric Volkswagen ID.4 SUV for around 10.4 million miles.
