Work on £12 million Egremont flood management scheme ongoing Work ongoing in Egremont Work on a flood risk management project that will see 220 homes and businesses better protected from flooding is continuing to make progress. The £12m Skirting Beck and Whangs Beck Flood Risk Management Scheme in Egremont will – once completed – improve the local environment and community amenities, the Environment Agency said. Following planning approval in October 2019, the Environment Agency has completed culvert works at Croadalla Avenue and property resistance measures have been delivered to 43 properties across the town. Construction has started on flood storage areas, consisting of flood walls and flood embankments, at West Lakes Academy, Falcon Club and How Bank Farm. The flood risk management scheme will also involve improved sustainable drainage systems at various locations across the town.

Tributes to respected Keswick School teacher Neil Hadfield, 61 Neil Hadfield A highly regarded teacher who was popular among past and present pupils at Keswick School has died after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Neil Hadfield, 61, joined the school in 1993 as head of English. He became assistant headteacher and was head of sixth form when he retired in 2017. A keen sportsman and avid Middlesbrough FC fan, Mr Hadfield took charge of the school’s football team. Born and educated in Middlesbrough, he studied English at Newcastle University before completing his education at Liverpool University. He moved to Egremont in 1982 to start teaching at Wyndham School, now West Lakes Academy.

Apr 6, 2021 CURTIS, MI – Karl Alan Krepps, 74, of Curtis, passed away Saturday, morning April 3, 2021, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family and the care of North Woods Hospice. Karl was predeceased by his father and mother, Edward and Jane (Robertson) Krepps and his “summer parents”, Harold and Francis Sell, as well as his “summer brother”, Larry Sell. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Casey “Karen” of 48 years. They were married in Hermansville, Michigan, on June 24, 1972. “Papa” Karl is lovingly remembered by his children and grandchildren, Gina (Brian) and grandsons, Noah and Jonah Birnbaum of Saginaw; Michigan, and Andrew (Kathleen) and grandsons, Daniel and Adam Krepps of Washington DC; his loving sister, Jo (Brian) Hagemeister of Ishpeming; many nieces and nephews and summer sister, Nancy Sell of Curtis.
