Shelbyville, IL -(Effingham Radio)- The Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation – Zone 5, is investigating the report of deceased body found in the waters of Lake Shelbyville near Wolf Creek State Park in Shelby County.
On May 8, 2021, Donald E. Pygott, a 70-year-old male from Mattoon, IL, was reported missing by family to local authorities. On the same date at approximately 9:00 p.m., Donald was located deceased at the above reported location. The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Shelby County Dive Team, Shelby County Coroner’s Office, and Illinois Department of Natural Resources Conservation Police are assisting in the investigation.
An investigation is now underway in Illinois after law officials found a man dead in Lake Shelbyville.

SHELBY COUNTY, Ill. (WTHI) - An investigation is now underway in Illinois after law officials found a man dead in Lake Shelbyville.
This is near Wolf Creek State Park in Shelby County.
70-year-old Donald Pygott of Mattoon Illinois was reported missing on Saturday.
Later that night Pygott was found dead at that same location.
The Shelby county sheriff s office, Shelby county dive team, Shelby county coroner s office, and Illinois department of natural resources conservation police are assisting in the investigation.

(EFFINGHAM) The Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation – Zone 5, is investigating the report of deceased body found in the waters of Lake Shelbyville near Wolf Creek State Park in Shelby County. It was this past Saturday that 70 year old Donald E. Pygott from Mattoon was reported missing by family to local authorities. Then at approximately 9:00 Saturday night, Pygott was located deceased at Lake Shelbyville. The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Shelby County Dive Team, Shelby County Coroner’s Office, and Illinois DNR Conservation Police assisted the State Police. Anyone who witnessed or has any knowledge of the incident is asked to contact the ISP by emailing at ISP.Zone05.Media@Illinois.gov.
Illinois State Police are investigating after crews pulled a body from Lake Shelbyville. ISP say 70-year-old Donald Pygott was reported missing Saturday and was found dead that evening in the lake near Wolf Creek State Park. Pygott’s death is still under investigation.

Illinois State Police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found Saturday night in Lake Shelbyville.
70-year-old Donald Pygott of Mattoon was reported missing by his family earlier in the day on Saturday. His body was pulled from Lake Shelbyville near Wolf Creek State Park around 9pm Saturday.
There’s no official word yet on the cause of his death, but anyone with information is asked to contact state police.
