Millie LaFontaine: The rules of biology are rules for all

I’m suddenly out of commission this week, blinking with surprise at how fast it happened, and feeling chagrin at the fact I didn’t see it coming.
I have enjoyed good health for so long, after all. Despite the fact that, during my career as a physician, I walked with patients daily on their journeys facing illness or disability, it turns out I’ve acted as though little of that applies to me.
I fell while skiing the other day. Why, you might ask, did I think it was a good idea for someone like me, past retirement age, to ski after a hiatus of several years? Well, I reasoned, my bones are great for someone my age; plus, I eat right, take my calcium and Vitamin D, and get plenty of exercise every day. Besides, I’ve fallen while skiing enough times in the past to know it’s no big deal. This time, though, I ended up with a fractured bone in my pelvis. I no longer bounce like I thought I
Road Construction 2021: City of St. Cloud
ST. CLOUD St. Cloud will have two large road construction projects and possibly a few smaller ones on the schedule in 2021.
The third and final leg of 33rd Street South will be completed this year at a cost of approximately $4.6-million. The final section of that corridor is from 26th Avenue South to Cooper Avenue and will take most of the construction season to complete.
The other major reconstruction project is County Road 136 from 33rd Street South up to 22nd Street South. The section in front of Oak Hill Elementary will be a 30-mph zone, with a 45-mph zone south of the school out to 33rd Street South. The project will also include sidewalks and bike lanes near the school and wider shoulders with bike lanes in the rural section.

I have any sense; and, two is that the arrangement of my
vessel would make sense. Oh, how I wish both or even one was true! Sadly, my life is not like that. I’m an idiot often a happy idiot but both my vessel and my voyages are out-of-my-control.
Here’s the goofy reality:
If I don’t write these stories, I don’t eat. And they won’t pay me for these sea yarns unless I send photos to accompany them. So, I’m always scribbling away and taking random snapshots of who-knows-what.
Not good 1000 miles offshore
Sometimes people want to try a new author and they don’t know where to start, and everything they pick up seems to be book VIII of a series. These posts are an attempt to answer that question, in alphabetical order, working my way along my bookshelves. Of course, my bookshelves do not contain all the books in the world. They don’t even contain all the books I’ve read, as over the years I’ve read a lot from libraries, I’ve lent books to people who haven’t return them, I lost books in a divorce, and when my son moved out. Also, there are a lot of books and authors I have never read. So please add any authors I don’t list, with good starting points. And don’t hesitate to argue with me, or with each other, if you think there’s a better place to start with anyone.
