UPDATE - TUESDAY, MARCH 9: Effective immediately, the no wake zone for all boat traffic on Lake Bistineau has been rescinded. As of 3 p.m. Tuesday, the level of the lake was 143.7â².
Boaters on Lake Bistineau are advised that a no wake zone was issued.

As we dig out from under the collapsed roofs and carports and finally restore running water to NWLA, many of us are looking for a silver lining. Did the hard freeze help curb any of our local pests?
I ve seen several people posit as to whether or not the freeze will kill the Salvinia on Lake Bistineu and other area bodies of water. After all, the cold has been known to kill or at least slow its growth in the past. We endured 10 days of intense cold. It was certainly a once-in-a-lifetime occurrence for our area. So, if there were even the slimmest chance for the cold weather to work, this is it. Unfortunately, we won t know the answer to that for a few months.

I-49 North segment (northbound and southbound) in Caddo Parish
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that I-49 North between the I-220 interchange in Shreveport and Mira Myrtis Road in north Caddo Parish has been reopened, effective immediately.
This affects both directions of travel.

The Dadvises motorists that urban I-49 in Shreveport, Caddo Parish has been reopened effective immediately.
This includes the northbound lanes of I-49 between LA 526 and I-20, as well as the southbound lanes from I-20 to LA 3132.
