The Lake City Council has accepted a bid for a proposed water main improvement project $100,000 below the initially estimated cost for the work. City officials reviewed bids at their Dec. 21 meeting from 11 companies interested in extending and reconnecting the buried lines on Garfield Street near Goins Park. Two bids were thrown outdue to improper submission with the remaining nine bids ranging in price from $192,000 to $254,000, all significantly below the original $285,000 estimate. Administrator, Eric Wood, says the council was initially dubious of the lower-than-expected proposals.

At the Dec. 8 Eagle Lake City Council meeting, City Administrator Melissa Landin was appointed as the city’s newest City Manager.
A large number of citizens were in attendance for the meeting, many speaking in favor of Landin’s appointment and some carrying signs showing support for Landin outside of City Hall.
