From staff reports
People young and old will soon make their way to the Visitor Center at 201 S. Main St. in downtown Hendersonville to experience mountain heritage bluegrass music, square dancing and clogging at the annual Street Dances.
The free dances will be held Monday nights, July 12 and 26 and Aug. 9 and 23, from 7-9 p.m.
The roots of Appalachian music and dance run deep in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina and have been passed down for generations, the Henderson County Tourism Development Authority said in a news release.
The Street Dance started in 1918 when residents of Hendersonville took to the street to welcome home soldiers from World War I.
