The Television Critics Association (TCA) panel for History today featured Home Improvement co-stars Tim Allen and Richard Karn with a new addition to their mix, April Wilkerson.
The History Channel’s nonfiction series, Assembly Required is executive produced (and hosted) by Golden Globe winner Tim Allen and host Richard Karn. And 30 years after their huge hit, the men have enlisted the building and woodworking do-it-yourself YouTube and Instagram star, April Wilkerson, a Texan who will serve as the show’s resident expert.

Tim Allen and Richard Karn are reuniting again 30 years after their “Home Improvement” days for the History Channel’s forthcoming unscripted competition series “Assembly Required,” but don’t expect sitcom shenanigans while watching. Instead, the duo will lean into their real-life friendship and tried-and-true on-screen chemistry for a “kind of a live version of ‘Tool Time, ” Allen explained, while spotlighting the best and brightest makers from across the country with a can-do attitude and a competitive streak.

almost time for “Home Improvement” stars Tim Allen and Richard Karn to reunite for new History channel competition “Assembly Required,” a project that’s a perfect fit for two guys who hosted the fictional handyman show “Tool Time” for eight years.
But Allen says he “never even thought about” having Karn host this series, which he called “kind of a live version of ‘Tool Time. ” (Even though “Assembly Required” is not live, to be clear.)
