Athens police officers recognized for saving two lives

Two Athens police officers are being recognized for recently saving lives during two roadside emergencies.

They saved two lives in two days.
On Feb. 26, first responders were sent to U.S. 31 and Interstate 65 for a call about an unresponsive person. When Officer Mac McWhorter and Officer William Newton arrived, they performed CPR until more help arrived.
Police learned a couple was traveling on the interstate when the husband started having chest pains and passed out. He was flown from the scene and later talking when they took off.

LIMESTONE CO., Ala. (WAFF) -
Update: The shooting suspect involved in the high-speed last night has been identified.
According to deputies, 25-year-old Adam Taylor of Toney, is charged with attempting to elude, reckless driving, and second-degree assault. Officials tell WAFF Taylor is being held in the Limestone County Detention Center, and no bond has been set.
Deputies say Taylor could be facing additional charges for possession of a firearm that was recovered from his vehicle. Taylor is also facing additional charges in Giles County, Tennessee.
