Enugu, Jan. 26, 2021 Mr Chinedu Okwu, representing Aninri constituency in Enugu State House of Assembly, has urged residents of the state to take steps towards preventing fire outbreaks in their environments.
Okwu made the call in Enugu on Tuesday when he visited the scene of a classroom block recently gutted by fire at Nenwe Girls Secondary School.
The lawmaker stated that in the dry season, it had become expedient for residents to cultivate the habit of being precautious against fire outbreaks.
“It is our collective duty to protect our environment, part of it is to be safety conscious. We should take steps towards preventing this kind of incidents.

Enugu, Jan. 20, 2021 The members of Enugu State House of Assembly have applauded the move by Enugu State Government to decongest the metropolis with the construction of the proposed New Enugu City.
Mr Chima Obieze, Chairman, Enugu State House of Assembly (ENHA) Committee on Works, Housing and Urban Development, gave the commendation on Wednesday in Enugu during an inspection of the level of work at the site.
The chairman said the proposed new Enugu City, sited on 279 hectares of land at Ugwuaji area of the Enugu, when fully developed, would help to decongest the already congested metropolis.
He attributed the development of the city to the vision and determination of Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to spread development to other parts of the state.

Hundreds of people from Oruku Community in Nkanu-East Local Government Area of Enugu State on Monday stormed the premises of Government House, Enugu to protest the killing of their traditional ruler, Igwe Emmanuel Mbah.
The protest which was peaceful, came barely two weeks after Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi inaugurated a judicial commission of inquiry headed by Justice Harold Eya to ascertain the remote and immediate cause of the brutal murder of the royal father.
