According to her brother Donald Bailey, Angela passed away after a battle with cancer. Born in Coventry, England in 1962, Bailey moved to Canada in 1974 and came to prominence on the world track scene in the late 1970s. The renowned sprinter set the Canadian record in the 100 metres of 10.98 seconds on July 6, 1987, in Hungary – a record that still stands more than three decades later. Olympic teammate Angella Taylor Issajenko held the record of 10.97, also set in 1987, but that mark was later removed.
