NEW DELHI: Scrapping incentives, including up to Rs 7,500 per vehicle for auto and light commercial vehicle, is being provided by the Delhi government under Delhi Electric Vehicle Policy 2020, the parliament was informed on Monday.
The Delhi government notified the Delhi EV Policy 2020 on Aug 7, 2020, with an intention to promote the adoption of clean mobility solution.
The policy aims to establish the feasibility for large scale adoption of electric passenger four wheelers, through transitioning its entire government fleet to electric. Under the provision, all leased/hired cars used for commute of GNCTD officers shall be transitioned to electric within a period of twelve months from the date of issue of this policy, Road Transport, Highways and MSMEs Minister Nitin Gadkari informed Rajya Sabha in a written reply.

Japan’s Itochu Corp, Air Liquide and Itochu Enex have signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate in developing a hydrogen value chain, Itochu said on February 26.
They will start by considering ‘local-production-for-local consumption’ business models in major metropolitan areas, and jointly explore hydrogen production, supply system and the expansion of the hydrogen station business. This will be a part of efforts to help scale up the hydrogen market for the industry, including in the mobility sector, Itochu said.

The State is eager to usher in green energy on roads by introducing electric vehicles (EVs) in the fleet of the AP State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC).
These battery-charged EVs may soon become a common sight on the roads with private automobile dealers too realising the significance of the cost-effective and clean and green mode of transport.

NEW DELHI: Road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari on Friday pledged to convert all vehicles in his ministry to EVs and urged other departments to follow suit in a bid to cut India s oil import dependence.
The minister has also suggested providing subsidy to buy electric cooking appliances rather than giving support to buy expensive imported gas for cooking.
Back of envelop calculation by the minister indicate that using 10,000 electric vehicles in Delhi alone can save Rs 30 crore every month. Besides, he stressed on electric cooking which is also cheaper than imported gas.
JLR s organisational review will not impact hourly paid, manufacturing employees.
Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) said it would cut 2,000 jobs from its global salaried workforce, just days after announcing its luxury Jaguar brand will be entirely electric by 2025 and e-models of its entire lineup will be launched by 2030.
The automaker s car range will be fully electric by 2030 as the carmaker joins a global race to develop zero-emission models to get ahead of looming bans on sales of new fossil-fuel vehicles.
JLR, owned by Tata Motors, said on Monday the Jaguar brand will lead the way with a fully electric model range built on a brand-new electric platform by 2025.
