Local supermarket chains E-mart, Lotte Mart and Homeplus have confirmed that they will continue boycotting the sale of Japanese seafood.
The following announcement came after the Japanese government s recent decision to release a massive amount of radioactive water into the sea from its wrecked Fukushima nuclear power plant.
The retailers decision to continue banning the import of Japanese marine products is rooted in flow-on environmental effects of the earthquake and tsunami that hit the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant back in 2011. The region was contaminated with radiation and Koreans urged the government and retail companies to stop importing food from Japan.

E-mart s pet shop chain Molly s Pet Shop may be put up for sale as several unnamed candidates including local private equity funds (PEFs) have contacted the country s largest retailer expressing interest in taking over the business. There are candidates who wish to acquire E-mart s Molly s Pet Shop. We will contact E-mart to ask their opinion and collect strategic investors to prepare for a possible acquisition, a source from an investment bank said. So far, potential buyers expect the pet shop chain s enterprise value to be under 100 billion won ($907.6 million).

Vice Chairman of Shinsegae Group Chung Yong-jin has recently been enjoying popularity on Instagram where he shares posts on his personal life and company products.
Chung recently uploaded a video hinting at his debut as a YouTuber. The caption below read YJ Log (Yong Jin s vlog) will be revealed this week.
In the preview video, Chung is wearing an apron and cooking in the kitchen with assistants. There is also a front view of an E-Mart building in Seongsu, eastern Seoul, in the scene, which suggests that this is not just him going about his hobby but rather a collaboration with E-Mart to introduce his company s products.
