PixelOpus Hiring for PS5 Exclusive in Collaboration with Sony Pictures Animation

Yesterday s PlayStation Blog post on the future of Sony s first-party studios has sort of opened the floodgates a little for those in the earlier stages of development. Days Gone developer Bend Studio confirmed it s working on a new IP, Team Asobi was officially introduced as an internal team, and now Concrete Genie maker PixelOpus has revealed it will be collaborating with Sony Pictures Animation for a new PS5 title. The news was confirmed via a new job listing looking for a Principal Graphics Programmer, which also makes mention of the new Unreal Engine 5.
God of War Ragnarok, Gran Turismo 7 PS4 Versions Confirmed

Update: We ve had word back from PlayStation PR, and it s official: God of War Ragnarok and Gran Turismo 7 are cross-gen games, meaning that they ll release on both PS5 and PS4.
This update was pretty much expected, but it s always good to receive confirmation from the source.
Original Story: In a new interview with the official PlayStation Blog, PlayStation Studios boss Hermen Hulst is asked about cross-gen development games that are developed for both PS5 and PS4, in other words. Hulst points out that Sony can t simply abandon over 110 million PS4 users hence titles like Horizon Forbidden West but in commenting on the company s philosophy, Hulst may have just confirmed that both God of War Ragnarok and Gran Turismo 7 are cross-gen games.
Much of Horizon Forbidden West Development, Playtesting Done on PS4

As part of a new interview with Game Informer, Guerrilla Games has revealed that a lot of Horizon Forbidden West development and playtesting is actually taking place on the PlayStation 4 instead of Sony s latest console. The chat then goes on to explain how the PS5 version includes a different water rendering technique compared to its last-gen counterpart and the hero lighting surrounding Aloy will only be available in cutscenes on PS4.
Game director Mathijs de Jonge said: A lot of the development has taken place on the PlayStation 4 and a lot of playtesting is also done on PlayStation 4 so we are ensuring that owners of that console will have a great experience and that the game will look fantastic on that console. For the PlayStation 5, we can go much further of course. Visually we can add a lot more detail graphically, the rendering technique for the underwater scenes is special on the PlayStation 5
