LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) Punjab President Rana Sanaullah Khan Monday said the nation did not need the electronic voting machines (EVMs).
In a statement, he taunted that the nation needed the sewing machine of Aleema Baji, which made dollars, as people were unemployed. “Corrupt and incompetent rulers are talking about the electric voting machines instead of thinking about giving relief to the people,” he said, adding the rulers were after these machines because they wanted to steal votes again through these machines. He said people were screaming for flour, sugar, and against inflation and unemployment but the government was talking about the electronic voting machines.

LAHORE/ISLAMABAD: Apprehensions surfaced between government and opposition on Prime Minister Imran Khanâs proposal of Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) in general elections as part of electoral reforms.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) President and Leader of the Opposition Shahbaz Sharif rejected the proposal to use electronic voting machines. In his statement issued here on Sunday, he said that the electronic voting system has been rejected by the entire world while the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has also declared it unworkable. âSuch important national tasks cannot be carried out at the behest or order of an individual,â he said, adding electoral reforms should be carried out with trust of the entire nation.
