The following defendants waived their right to a preliminary hearing in central court on Wednesday. Amanda J. Messersmith, 31, of Greeneville, Tennessee, on April 12 was charged with delivery of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance. The state Office of the Attorney General said Messersmith allegedly sold methamphetamine to a confidential informant multiple times. The first controlled buy occurred at the Breezewood Motel on Feb. 24, documents said. Messersmith allegedly sold meth to the informant for $100. Another buy occurred at the hotel on March 4, that time for an $80 purchase. On March 18, the informant purchased $80 worth of meth from Messersmith at the Wiltshire, 140 S. Breezewood Road. Bail was set at $50,000 straight.

(Matt Pittman/MyNorthwest) While the Seattle Police Department continues to face staffing problems, Bellevue is facing issues of its own, albeit on a much smaller scale. “For a department our size, that’s a problem,” he told KTTH’s Jason Rantz Show. Mylett says the extra vacancies were created when several senior officers decided to retire, some of which did so unexpectedly. In order to fill those gaps, the department is offering a $16,000 signing bonus for officers signing on from other cities. That comes with a few caveats, mandating at least two prior years as a certified peace officer, the completion of a field training program, and then going through a probationary period after being hired on.
