RICHMOND, Va. No threats or protests materialized in Richmond at the Virginia State Capitol during President Joe Biden s inauguration, despite added security measures and closures.
Following the riot at the U.S. Capitol, Virginia leaders increased security in Richmond to prepare for potential threats.
Capitol Square was closed off, windows were boarded up, fences and security teams were added. but no protesters showed up Wednesday. With a virtual session, it was a quiet day at the Capitol.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. It’s the first of its kind in the Commonwealth: the Voting Rights Act of Virginia.
State Delegate Marcia Price (D-95), who represents parts of Newport News and Hampton introduced the legislation Tuesday.
It’s a push to expand the federal Voting Rights Act of 1965, with updates to protect people’s right to vote across Virginia.
In an interview with 13News Now Friday, Price said the legislation aims to better serve communities by requiring localities to provide voting materials in languages other than English. It would also implement stronger measures against threats and voter intimidation.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. Tuesday afternoon, Pollard s Chicken & Catering shared tough news for the Hampton Roads restaurant chain - the business would be closing its Witchduck Road location permanently.
Wednesday, in an interview with 13News Now, the operations manager for Pollard s Chicken Restaurant shared her remorse about the closing.
“We’re all very saddened about having to close one of our restaurants, Mary Gagnon said. Open since 1996 - it’s just a very sad and hard time for everybody.
