OTTAWA Supreme Court Justice Rosalie Abella marked her last day on the bench on Friday, a day she says was filled with emotion and reflection of the long and decorated career path that got her to this point. In an exclusive interview on CTV’s Question Period airing Sunday, Abella said she thought about her parents, her husband, and her two sons before she said goodbye to a seat she was appointed to 17 years ago. “I thought of my family, I thought of the people I went on this journey with. I thought of my parents, who encouraged me to be whatever I wanted to be. I thought of my husband, who was married to the only woman he knew,” she said.
TORONTO With the federal government’s approach to regulating social media and streaming services under a spotlight with the ongoing study of Bill C-10, an expert in digital media has voiced concern that the discussion over the legislation may undermine future attempts to take on web giants. I frankly worry that the C-10 discussions are undermining our ability to come up with good collections of legislation, Elizabeth Dubois, an associate professor at the University of Ottawa who specializes in digital media and political communication, said on the latest episode of Trend Line. No one bill is going to regulate the web giants, Dubois said.

There’s a COVID case in the apartment building where I live.
I’m not panicked. When you have hundreds of people living in a building, it’s going to happen. My building has been particularly strict about COVID protocols. The cleaners and management have stepped up and kept the place immaculate. Residents have been careful and observed social-distancing rules.
