HIGH POINT, N.C. A store clerk was shot multiple times Saturday night at the Apple Tree Grocery in High Point.
Police said two men became impatient while waiting to buy beer at the store on East Green Drive. They said the men didn’t want to wait at the cash register and asked another worker in the beer cooler section to take their money. After the worker, refused police said the men shot the 30-year-old store clerk multiple times in his groin and legs.
Eketrina Wilson fumbled with her cell phone. Her camera was off-kilter â itâs hard to tell horizontal from vertical in selfie-mode sometimes â and she struggled with the volume.
It may not have been Wilsonâs first experience with Zoom, but Tuesday morningâs call surely was her most important.
But it wasnât the technology that spooked her. Nor was it the tube gently pushing oxygen into her nostrils; sheâs used to that by now. Rather, it was the subject that likely caused the most distress.
Wilson, 39, is recovering from a debilitating bout with COVID-19. And like an overwhelming majority of people requiring serious in-patient care, she didnât heed the many and repeated warnings to take the vaccine.
