LEESBURG Lake County Commission Chairman Sean Parks released a statement Wednesday evening on the Department of Health in Lake County s COVID-19 vaccination efforts.
It came hours after the DOH restarted its vaccine distribution program, which was met with sharp criticism from residents. Currently, the state is offering vaccines to residents of long-term care facilities, front-line health care workers and seniors. It is imperative that we give our seniors a better experience, Parks wrote. We will continue to escalate your concerns and offer our resources to support DOH-Lake’s efforts.
Last week, the local vaccine distribution program began, but supplies ran short, and it stalled early this week.

ORLANDO, Fla. – Coronavirus vaccinations continue throughout the Sunshine State and in some counties with little to no advanced notice.
In Central Florida, Lake County officials gave less than 20 minutes notice before they started immunizing residents and non residents with the COVID-19 vaccine.
The county received 12,600 doses Tuesday afternoon and made the decision to administer 800-1,000 doses Wednesday morning, making the announcement the same morning.

Residents in the county have been left confused after officials changed the vaccination process to require no appointments and said they were unsure when more doses would become available.
