th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Writing Contest, students throughout southeastern Wisconsin responded to the theme, “Keep Moving Forward,” from King’s address, “Keep Moving the Mountain” given at Spelman College in Atlanta on April 10, 1960.

ULLIN, Ill. (KFVS) - Shawnee Community College is continuing its longstanding tradition of hosting the annual High School Writing Contest.
Each year, Shawnee College faculty member Dr. Ryan Thornsberry conducts the contest to offer young authors a creative outlet in the region.
The contest consists of three categories of writing judged in two divisions:
9th/10th
Entries should be no more than 1,000-1,500 words one entry per student.
Scholastic artists
In the year 2020 when nothing was certain, there was still one item art teachers were determined to assure would be able to showcase the talent and hard work of their students.
This year’s Scholastics Art and Writing Competition was able to be pulled off in more of the most unforgettable and forgettable years we have ever seen. Over 40 teachers from Trumbull, Mahoning, Columbiana, and Ashtabula counties entered over 300 works from students in drawing, painting, photography, digital art, and more to be judged at the regional level to see who would represent our area and compete at the national level this coming spring.
