Whether they dig out $10 from their wallet or volunteer a few hours a week, they pay it forward by giving time and money to causes that have touched their lives.

First-ever Railway Days Festival set for Saturday

The Railway Museum of San Angelo is on track for a big day Saturday, May 15. The first-ever Railway Days Festival will fill the surrounding area with food, fun, entertainment, history and pop-up booths from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
The museum was honored this year by the Texas Historical Commission for significant contributions to historical preservation, education and community outreach. According to Board of Directors president Suzanna Valenzuela, the Railway Days Festival continues that trend by displaying the historic train depot to the public. Saturday is also Goodfellow Appreciation Day, and all members of the military get into the museum for Living History tours for free.
HANNIBAL â The Hannibal Area String Orchestra will present its annual Spring Concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 8, in the Roland Fine Arts Center, 2800 Palmyra Rd. in Hannibal. The orchestra will play folk music from around the world.
Currently the organization is made up of three groups: the Beginning and Intermediate String Orchestras, both directed by Katie Schisler, and the Advanced String Orchestra, directed by John Ferguson. The string orchestra currently has about 40 members, including piano and percussion on some pieces.
The beginning orchestra explores folk songs from around the world with a Finnish Folk Song Suite, French Dance and a jungle inspired Rain Festival. This orchestra is honored to premiere an original work by Perry, Ill. composer William Camphouse. âAll Quiet Along the Potomac Tonightâ is an arrangement of an old Civil War tune by John Hill Hewitt with words from a poem by Irene Hunt.
