SAN ANTONIO – If you were having trouble accessing the WellMed locations on San Antonio’s South and West Sides this week you weren’t alone.
As of Wednesday afternoon, a staggering 5.6 million phone calls had been received since registration opened over the weekend, Councilwoman Adriana Rocha-Garcia told KSAT.
WellMed previously told KSAT that the toll-free number (833-968-1745) was quickly jammed as community members tried to secure spots for vaccinations.

The Elvira Cisneros Senior Community Center and the Alicia Treviño López Senior Center, both WellMed locations, were announced as no-cost mass vaccination sites this Saturday. Registration opened Saturday. Vaccinations started Monday. All 9,000 slots were full by Wednesday.

SAN ANTONIO – Unlike the City of San Antonio’s mass vaccination clinic at the Alamodome, which required registration online or by calling 311, two other clinics on the South Side and West Side of San Antonio operated by using a toll-free number.
WellMed in partnership with City Council Districts 3, 4 and 7 said that the toll-free number (833-968-1745) was quickly jammed as community members attempted to make an appointment.
Rebecca Viagran, who represents District 3, said they received more than 170,000 phone calls from people who wanted one of the 9,000 doses available.
