Food supplier expands in Midlands | Logistics Manager

Food ingredient supplier and distributor Kent Foods has paid Barberry Industrial £9.4 million for a freehold warehouse in Daventry, Northamptonshire. It has bought the speculatively developed warehouse known as Barberry72 as its new Midlands regional distribution centre in order to facilitate its expansion. The 73,257 ft2 property has been developed on the 3.5-acre site of a former Focus DIY store. Its development was supported by fund manager Frontier Development Capital with a loan of £3.75m in August 2020 from its £100 million FDC Debt Fund. Glasgow-based Kent Foods is one of Europe’s largest independent suppliers of sugars, sweeteners, dairy products, oils, and fats to the food manufacturing industry. It also stocks and supplies a wide range of related ingredients to provide a quality and comprehensive product range for customers.

Costa Coffee drive-through plan for British Sugar factory site in Kidderminster

NEW industrial units and a drive-through Costa Coffee are set to be built at the old British Sugar factory site in Kidderminster. The development is part of a £1.9m development loan awarded by Wyre Forest District Council to support the regeneration of brownfield land, which will form part of Silverwoods Park on Stourport Road. Phase one of the scheme, led by Suma Development, is set to create 42 new jobs and attract £80,000 of new business rates to the area. Plans for phase two would see the construction of new trade-counter units. The funding has been provided from the council s £10m Development Loan Fund. The industrial units, which will be named Forest Industrial Park, will be purchased by the council to directly support employment opportunities and growth.
