Second professor from DePaul s College of Communication files racial discrimination lawsuit

The DePaulia Ella Lee, Print Managing Editor|January 26, 2021 A new lawsuit claiming racial and disability discrimination has been filed against the university by a professor within the College of Communication, marking the second lawsuit of that nature in the span of six months. Dr. Sydney Dillard, a professor of public relations and advertising (PRAD), filed a complaint in late December alleging the university unlawfully discriminated against her on the basis of her race and disability. Dillard is the only Black woman within the College of Communication who is a tenure-track faculty member.  In the complaint, Dillard claims that she was subjected to a hostile work environment, singled out and subjected to “random, invasive office searches” and “belittled, ostracized and intimidated through microaggressions,” which negatively affected her ability to work.

DePaul alumnus George Papadopoulos, Russia probe figure, pardoned by Trump

The DePaulia DePaul alumnus George Papadopoulos was granted clemency by President Donald Trump Tuesday night amid a wave of pre-holiday pardons.  Papadopoulos, formerly a foreign policy adviser to the president’s 2016 campaign, was convicted in the special counsel’s Russia inquiry. He pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI in 2017 about his role in trying to set up “off the record” meetings between the Trump campaign and Russian officials.  The White House said in a statement Papadopoulos was “charged with a process-related crime, one count of making false statements” in Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation, which Trump and his allies have continuously denounced as a hoax.
