The Texas A&M University System has named Texas A&M International University associate director of marketing Mika Akikuni one of 11 faculty and professional honorees recognized within the A&M System at its Second Annual Chancellor’s Summit on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Awards Ceremony.
The Chancellor’s Summit on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, which brought together faculty and staff from A&M System universities to discuss diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives at all system campuses, was conducted virtually last week with over 900 participants.
Dr. M. Katherine Banks has been named sole finalist for the position of president of Texas A&M University. She is currently vice chancellor of engineering and national laboratories and dean of the Texas A&M College of Engineering.
On March 3, the Texas A&M University System Board of Regents officially named Dr. M. Katherine Banks as their sole finalist for the position of President of Texas A&M University.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas In a unanimous decision, Dr. M. Katherine banks has been selected as the now sole finalist to become the next president at Texas A&M University by the Board of Regents. Banks will become the second woman in the history of the university to hold that title.
“We’re all very excited, said Elaine Mendoza, the chairman of the Texas A&M System Regents and the chair for the Presidential Search Advisory Committee. She has a past of successes that you can point to right here on this campus.”
