Bradley University basketball player Elijah Childs faces a sex crime charge stemming from an alleged February incident during the Braves’ trip to Springfield, MO for a series against Missouri State.
The Springfield Police Department on Wednesday told the Springfield News-Leader it had concluded its investigation of Childs, and was leaving it up to the prosecutor’s office as to whether or not Childs should be charged.
The prosecutor’s office said Childs was being investigated for second degree sodomy, meaning he could face a class D felony, meaning if charged, he’d face up to seven years in prison.
Police in Indianapolis, Indiana say a “mass murder” happened in their city. They’re not saying much about it. Investigators are not clear on how many shooters were involved, or if it was just one. The motive is unclear.
What they do know is that five people were found dead from gunshot wounds at the residence Sunday morning. One of them was pregnant, and she was taken to a hospital. Her unborn child did not make it, police spokesman Sgt.
Shane Foley said in a press conference. That brought the death toll to 6. The one saving grace described by officials is that a juvenile male victim is expected to survive.
INDIANAPOLIS – The man accused of killing three adults and a 7-year-old girl in Indianapolis on Saturday night told police he began shooting everyone inside a home after an argument over a stimulus check, court records show.
Malik Halfacre, 25, was taken into custody a day after police say he shot and killed Anthony Johnson, 35; Dequan Moore, 23; Eve Moore, 7; and Tomeeka Brown, 44.
A survivor of the shooting – who family said shared a daughter with Halfacre – was shot in the back during the incident and directed police to the residence Saturday night.
Halfacre said in an interview with police that he and his daughter s mother were arguing because he wanted some of her stimulus check, according to a probable cause affidavit.
