Hi Jeff.I have read your article on Castle Hall in the Western Telegraph. My great-grandfather worked for them at Castle Hall (St Brides). He and his wife, the Sharlands, moved there from Kent (I think that s where the nuns came from) to live at Blackbridge Cottage and this is where my maternal grandmother was born in 1914. When the nuns left, my great-grandfather began a horticultural business which makes me think he may have been gardener at Castle Hall. They left Blackbridge and moved to Tenby. I would be grateful for any info. Many thanks. Claire Williams, who has been with BETA since 2000, was announced as the recipient at this week’s National Equine Forum (NEF). Alpin, George Andy (Dalton) Friday, February 19, 2021 George “Andy” Aplin, age 75, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at Hamilton Medical Center. He was born in Blue Springs, Al. on March 31, 1945. He was preceded in death by parents, Almon N. and Flossie Whigham Aplin; sisters, Eleanor Jones, Ann Stafford and brother, James Aplin; nephews, Robert Sheppard and Sam Brooks. Andy had a scientific and artistic background. Starting his scientific career at Duke University Immunology Department matching donor and recipients in the early years of kidney transplants. His artistic career included teaching high school art classes, he was a watercolor artist and worked in design and product development in the carpet product. He was a kind, loving man who cared for his family and others.
