EFFINGHAM Members of the Effingham County Board demonstrated their support for gun ownership this week by adopting the “Effingham County, Illinois Second Amendment Preservation Act 2021.”
One board member warned it could lead to legal challenges if it is seen as threatening state or federal authority.
The new law says any laws that infringe on the people’s right to keep and bear arms shall be deemed invalid in Effingham County. Ceres woman arrested for DUI after hitting parked car Elizabeth Huston
A 45-year-old Ceres woman was arrested on driving while intoxicated charges Wednesday evening, Dec. 16, after she ran her Mercedes Benz into a parked car in the 2300 block of Fourth Street.
Officer Scott Faure was dispatched to the crash site at 11:15 p.m. and found the black Mercedes Benz with front-end damage and a blue Honda with damage. Officer Faure saw driver Elizabeth Huston, 45, of Ceres, exit the Mercedes and asked her what happened. Huston mumbled something and pushed her way past the officer in an attempt to get back in the driver’s seat.
