Vietnam veteran celebrates 50th anniversary back home

Anderson said, “by the grace of God,” he came home safely to his wife and son on May 5 1970 making last year, 2020, his 50th anniversary, but due to the pandemic, they had to postpone the celebration. “I’ve had a gathering every five years since 1990, I think, and the last several I’ve given people the opportunity to contribute to the support organizations that support Veterans and we’re doing that even more so this time,” Anderson said.

RELLIS students make history

RELLIS Academic Alliance graduates first in-person class Class of 2020 and Class of 2021 made history today being the first people to graduate in-person from The Texas A&M University System RELLIS Campus. Graduate Jennifer De Leon has been part of the Academic Alliance for 2 years. She said in the beginning, there were only three people in her class and she said being part of this historic moment put her at a loss for words. “I hope to in some way, inspire other people to go to college and work hard for whatever they want to do,” De Leon said.

Dr Walter Haisler earns KAGS Exceptional Aggie recognition

Dr. Walter Haisler, KAGS’ Exceptional Aggie KAGS is recognizing Dr. Walter Haisler for his recent award by the Texas A&M Foundation and his work to provide a bright future for other aerospace Aggies. Author: Elisabeth Tharp Updated: 10:24 PM CDT May 10, 2021 COLLEGE STATION, Texas This KAGS Exceptional Aggie got his bachelor’s, master’s and Ph.D. from A&M in 1967-1970, then served as the head of the aerospace engineering department for 12 years in the late 80s-early 90s. The Texas A&M Foundation chose Dr. Walter Haisler as a recipient of its 2020 Partner in Philanthropy award. Dr. Haisler said he and his wife decided a long time ago to use the proceeds of their estate to do something with a long-lasting impact, so they created a scholarship endowment for aerospace engineering students.
