Demand grows for Forest School at Cumming Nature Center

SOUTH BRISTOL When Nathan Hayes came on board as director of Cumming Nature Center in 2015, he was ready to expand programs and start new ones.
“The goal was to create a suite of programs, to create a place people can grow up in,” said Hayes, who heads the nature center in South Bristol, a 900-acre preserve with groomed trails for hiking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Long known for workshops, exhibits and nature-related programs for all ages, Cumming Nature Center during the pandemic has taken off in ways even Hayes hadn’t imagined.
