A Jamaican national who was imprisoned for 18 years in Bermuda after he was convicted of importing heroin, has cited “bad legal advice” for his decision to not initially plead guilty to the charge.
Against that background, the convict, 40-year-old Omar Davy of Mandeville, Manchester, argued through his new attorney, that his sentence should have been reduced when he appeared in the Bermuda Court of Appeal earlier this month.
It was reported that the Jamaican fled from customs officers at Bermuda s international airport after they found the drug in his luggage on July 10, 2018.
He was, however, quickly apprehended after a security officer on a motorcycle intercepted a truck that Davy had flagged down and boarded in his bid to escape.
