Food trucks hampered in last week s tsunami warning threw open their doors to feed more than 300 schoolkids seeking safety on a Whangārei hilltop.
The act of kindness by Bidfood - a national wholesale food distributor - eased the hunger pains of Morningside Primary School and Renew School Whangārei pupils who evacuated to Anzac Park in Raumanga when the tsunami alert sounded.

A boy reported missing in Ohio is now believed to have been murdered by his own mother.
Brittney Gosney reported her 6-year-old son missing on Sunday but, just hours later, the case became a homicide investigation.
Police believe the mother ran James Robert Hutchinson over and then dumped the body in the nearby river.
The 29-year-old woman has been charged with murder, abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence.

Court records show that Gosney told police she tried to abandon the boy in a park on Friday. When he tried to get back in the car, she sped off, running him over and dragging his body for a distance .

YUMA, Ariz. – A Yuma Air Branch air interdiction agent, Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents and concerned members of the public saved the life of a two-year-old boy and his father who were struggling in the Salinity Canal Monday evening.
Yuma Air and Marine Operations partnered with Border Patrol agents and local citizens to rescue a father and his child from a canal.
A 23-year-old illegal alien entered the canal with his son strapped to his back and was quickly swept away by the rapid current. National Guardsmen detailed to the Yuma Sector Border Patrol Operations Center observed the incident on the video surveillance system and alerted agents in the area.

YUMA, Ariz. – Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents rescued
three illegal aliens from drowning in the Salinity Canal Thursday evening. The rescue was the second in a week where agents have saved the lives of people who misjudged the canal’s strong currents.
Just before 8 p.m., agents responded to the canal near County 13 ½ after a group of 23 illegally crossed the border into the United States and then attempted to cross the canal.
Two females and one male couldn’t escape the canal due to the fast-moving current. Agents threw rescue discs to the aliens and pulled them from the canal.

YUMA, Ariz. – Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents assigned to the Yuma Station rescued two illegal aliens who entered the Salinity Canal and began struggling in the current.
Just before 4.p.m. on Sunday, agents observed a man and woman enter the canal near County 17 ½ Street. As they struggled in the water, Border Patrol agents responded to the scene and threw a rescue disc and were able to pull one subject from the water while the other was able to pull himself out of the current.
