Eight people have died after being shot at a FedEx facility in Indianapolis today, and the suspected gunman took his own life, US police have said.
Multiple other people were injured and went to local hospitals, police spokesperson Genae Cook said at an early morning news conference.
At least four people were hospitalised, including one person with critical injuries. Two others were treated at the scene and released. No law enforcement officers were injured.
Police had previously said the gunman shot and killed himself.

FedEx released a statement early today saying it is cooperating with authorities and working to get more information.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) Multiple people were shot at a Fedex facility in Indianapolis and the suspected gunman killed himself, police said.
When police arrived late Thursday, officers observed an active shooting at the facility, Indianapolis police spokesperson Genae Cook told reporters early Friday.
Cook confirmed multiple people were shot but did not give a specific number. She added that the gunman has died and the public is not believed to be in immediate danger.
Live video from news outlets at the scene showed crime scene tape in the parking lot outside the facility.

It was at least the third mass shooting this year in Indianapolis alone. Five people, including a pregnant woman, were shot and killed in January, and a man was accused of killing three adults and a child before abducting his daughter during at argument at a home in March. Police were called to reports of gunfire Thursday just after 11pm, and officers observed an active shooting scene, Cook said. The gunman later killed himself. “We re still trying to ascertain the exact reason and cause for this incident,” Cook said.

A mass shooting at a FedEx facility in Indianapolis, Indiana, has left at least eight people dead and dozens more injured.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department previously confirmed that there was an active shooter situation at the facility and that the gunman had took his own life.
Giving an update, Indianapolis police spokesperson Genae Cook said at least eight people have been killed in the attack early Friday morning, not including the gunman.
Reporter Matthew Keys, citing a police source, said on Twitter that said as many as 60 others were injured in the shooting.
