Sr. Conchetta LoPresti likes to talk with her hands. Since she s Italian, it comes naturally to her.
She grew up in Avalon, Pennsylvania, with a grandmother who didn t speak English. LoPresti didn t speak Italian, and her father busy in the grocery store he ran wasn t available to interpret for the two, so they communicated with body language and signs.
After LoPresti graduated from California University of Pennsylvania, she entered the Sisters of St. Francis of Millvale, Pennsylvania, in 1970. She will celebrate her 50th jubilee of profession this year.
Buffalo Diocese announces updated COVID-19 practices

BUFFALO, N.Y. The Diocese of Buffalo is making some changes to its policies and practices in light of recent updated COVID-19 guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
The following takes effect this weekend for Pentecost Sunday:
Masks: At all Masses and parish events, masks should continue to be worn upon entry and exit, and at any time where there is movement or a closeness to others, for instance, when the Communion procession forms. (Ministers of the Eucharist should be masked when distributing Communion as should those receiving.) When seated, or when at an outdoor gathering, masks may be removed/relaxed at the discretion of the individual.

Father Thomas Weinandy, OFM, Cap., who previously served as Executive Director of the USCCB’s Secretariat for Doctrine, sent the five-page letter to Pope Francis July 31, the feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola. Weinandy told Crux that he sent the letter after a powerful experience of discernment convinced him that “Jesus wanted me to write something” that would “be of help to Pope Francis, to the Church, and to the faithful.”
