Multiple crashes closed I-84 east of Baker City Sunday evening

BAKER CITY â Interstate 84 was closed for about four hours Sunday evening after several commercial trucks crashed on the snow-slickened freeway in the curvy Burnt River Canyon between Baker City and Huntington. The trouble started around 6:40 p.m. when a westbound commercial truck towing a 53-foot trailer jackknifed near Milepost 345, about 41 miles southeast of Baker City. According to a report from OSP Trooper Tim Schuette, the truck, driven by Dharminder Singh, 29, crashed into the concrete divider separating the westbound and eastbound lanes, pushing multiple barriers into the eastbound lanes. The driverâs address was not available. The truck and trailer combination blocked both westbound lanes, and several other vehicles subsequently crashed, on both the westbound and eastbound lanes, âas a result of the blockage,â Schuette wrote in his report.

BAKER CITY â The eastbound lanes of Interstate 84 were closed for about five hours in parts of Baker and Union counties on Wednesday, Dec. 9, after a commercial truck hauling lumber crashed on a curve in the Burnt River Canyon southeast of Baker City, spilling 2-by-4s across the freeway. The eastbound lanes were initially closed at Baker City, and the closure was later extended to La Grande after truck parking areas filled in Baker City, according to Tom Strandberg, a spokesman for the Oregon Department of Transportation. The eastbound lanes reopened around midnight, Strandberg said. Oregon State Police responded to a report of a commercial truck rollover at 6:55 p.m., according to an OSP report.
