Flint City Council can’t agree on water crisis settlement, vote pushed to Thursday

FLINT, MI City Council members remain divided on whether to settle lawsuits related to the Flint water crisis, recessing its meeting on Monday, Dec. 14, after members failed to reach an agreement after more than six hours of debate.
The Flint City Council is scheduled to try again when the meeting resumes Thursday, Dec. 17., while attorneys involved in the proposed $641-million settlement are warning that changing the deal that took years to negotiate isn’t an option.

FLINT, MI - Some Flint City Council members are vowing to fight a proposed historic settlement of Flint water crisis lawsuits and about 30 residents rallied to urge them to do just that on Friday. Dec. 11.
Council members questioned attorneys for more than five hours in a special meeting Thursday, in advance of a scheduled vote on Flint’s portion of the $641-million settlement next week.
