Firefighters contain downtown Troy blaze Saturday morning

The major structure fire occurred at 451 Broadway. According to Troy Fire Chief Eric McMahon, the fire broke out at approximately 2:30 a.m. As of 11 a.m., fire crews were still on the scene attempting to put out hot spots. - Advertisement - The fire went through the wall. There s still significant damage to the building. No injury to the firefighters. No injuries, no fatalities, there may have been some pets lost, McMahon noted on the preliminary assessment. McMahon added that fire crews are still checking to make sure everyone in the building is accounted for. Officials said the fire was eventually contained and that there were no reported injuries. However, according to Rensselaer County Legislator Peter Grimm, who resides in the downtown area, one trapped person was rescued by fire officials.
